Our History & Future

About the Volunteer Way

The Volunteer Way, Inc. is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those in need, including children, seniors, individuals and families experiencing poverty, those facing hunger, the homeless, and low-income households throughout our community.

For more than 30 years, we have remained committed to helping our neighbors overcome hardship by providing food, support, encouragement, and hope. Guided by our faith and fueled by the generosity of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve every day.

What began as a simple act of compassion has grown into a mission of helping thousands of families each month across Pasco, Hernando, and surrounding counties.

At The Volunteer Way, we believe in people helping people.

People Helping People

The Volunteer Way was founded by Lester Cypher in March 1992 when one family asked for help with food. What began as a simple act of compassion has grown into a community-wide mission.

Today, The Volunteer Way serves an average of 25,000 families each month across Pasco, Hernando, and surrounding counties, providing healthy, nutritious food that helps stretch household budgets and improve lives.

We Never Turn Away Anyone in Need of Help, Hope, or Compassion

At The Volunteer Way, we believe that no one should have to face hardship alone. We help financially insecure individuals and families meet their basic needs by providing food, personal care items, community resources, hope, and opportunities to improve their lives.

Each year, we distribute millions of pounds of food, free of charge, to food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs, senior citizens, homeless individuals, families, and other charitable organizations throughout our community.

We are committed to serving as many people in need as possible and providing compassionate support to those facing hunger, poverty, homelessness, and financial hardship.

At The Volunteer Way, we believe that no child, senior, or struggling individual should go to bed hungry. Through the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we continue our mission of helping people today while creating hope for a better tomorrow.
